Entry Hall
First impressions are important. Open the heavy, carved wooden door from the front courtyard to an entry which sets the mood for the entire house. This house is all about open space. Two picture windows bring in muted light and allow one to see visitors approaching under the portale. The front door is flanked by carved stone reliefs embedded in the adobe. The floors are wooden plank. The high ceiling is traditional viga and latilla construction. A handsome oil painting of Taos Mountain mimics the view to the east. Adobe and pierced copper sconces help to set the mood. French armchairs provide a quiet spot where two can chat or pull on hiking boots. Check the tilt of your sun hat in the large, gilt mirror.
The Great Room
The Great Room is at the heart of the house. Warm in winter, with radiant-heated floors and cool in the summer due to 18-inch thick adobe walls, high ceilings and cross-ventilation. Massive beams, known as vigas, span the ceiling and mud-plastered walls are flecked with mica and straw. Guests may gather by the kiva fireplace and look towards Taos Mountain through eight-foot glass French doors with side-lights or a couple can play cards at the occasional table in the corner. In the center of the room is a dining area with a table that will easily accommodate ten diners. Table linens are available.

Sun Room
The Sun room has vistas in three directions. Floor-to-ceiling windows face Taos Mountain for possibly the best views in the house. 8-foot glass French doors open to the South patio where the barbecue grill is located. An additional, single glass door provides access to the front patio and portale, surrounded by fruit trees. There is a comfy wicker couch and recliner plus a wooden table with four chairs for dining or playing games. The internet is best accessed from this room. A 40-inch TV is available for live streaming. This room is the place to soak up sun on a winter morning.
